DESCRIPTION:Grief can be complicated and challenging. It is experienced by everyone\, regardless of age and many in our community still express that they are not comfortable addressing it. In particular\, seniors and older adults can be acutely impacted by grief. \nTo help support you and your community\, Compassionate Ottawa invites you to join a free in-person workshop. It will be hosted by our experienced and trained facilitators. \nIn this workshop\, you will be guided through an interactive session by Compassionate Ottawa’s trained facilitators to increase your knowledge and comfort on the topic. The Healthy End of Life Project (HELP) is a research project between Carleton University and Orleans United Church. HELP is working to break down the barriers around asking for and offering help. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, March 31\, 2023\, from 8:30 to 9:30 am\, at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre\, where Ottawa Centre MPP Joel Harden will announce the $106\,400 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant received by Compassionate Ottawa. A light breakfast will be served. \nFindings from the recently completed community consultation\, which explored the impact of COVID-19 on community organizations\, will be shared. The Compassionate Ottawa Board Chair\, Monica Patten\, and Project Consultant\, Suzanne Taschereau\, will describe how Compassionate Ottawa intends to revise its work to accommodate the needs of community groups\, especially those who are underserved. A few groups will share their stories. \nRegistration is required and can be done on the Eventbrite page at the link below. Details about suggested arrival time and parking can also be found there. How can we promote values and actions in Ottawa so that dying is seen as everyone’s responsibility\, not only that of health professionals? \nPlease join us for a stimulating presentation and conversation with Dr. Allan Kellehear\, international champion\, to learn about the public health approach to palliative care. Allan will share examples where individuals\, communities and health care providers worked together to promote Compassionate Communities.
