A compassionate Ottawa supports and empowers individuals, their families and their communities throughout life to live well and to die and grieve well.

On July 8, Jena Davarajah will begin as Compassionate Ottawa’s full-time Program Coordinator. Jena brings considerable experience in volunteer program management through her current role with Meals on Wheels. She knows our community well, speaks several languages and enjoys research, having completed a master’s degree in legal studies where she focused on urban social policy.  Jena is excited about our mission and is looking forward to helping us grow and expand our volunteer base as well as to her responsibility for administration.

Our capacity in administration will be enhanced by Paula Campbell’s move to full-time on August 1st. We are delighted that Paula will make this move and confident that Compassionate Ottawa will continue to be well-served by her skills.

Monica Patten played the lead role with this critical hire and we sincerely appreciate the commitment she made in getting us the right person.  Monica was assisted by Carol Seaby, Charles Barrett, and Jean-Pierre Soublière and I was glad to be involved as well.

We are grateful to the Ottawa Community Foundation and two generous donors for making it possible to put our staff team in place. I know they share our excitement about the next steps in Compassionate Ottawa’s journey!
